The desire to serve my community was always present I just didn't know what I wanted or could do. During a segment of the Melissa Harris-Perry show, a woman was being honored as a Foot Soldier in her community for opening a diaper bank. The story was moving and was something that stayed with me. I began to wonder if my community offered this resource to families with babies. What I found was that the resources were available but not for families in my particular neighborhood so I made the choice that this resource would be, Lannie's Neighborhood was born.
